Kalamazoo River Issues
Various civic, governmental, and environmentally based organizations are involved with current issues regarding the river's current health and future. The river is still dirtied with municipal outflow, regulated industrial output, toxic PCBs, and now the more acute studies of non-point source pollutions. These issues are gaining public focus through various federal, state and local groups. They study the loading of specific nutrients into the watershed, like phosphorus, fertilizers and animal waste from farm run-off.
